Measles Vaccine, Autism + Adverse Drug Reactions As #1 Cause of Illness & Death: Richard Ruhling, MD

PRESCOTT, AZ - 3/15/2016  (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- “Vaccine refusal tied to increased risk of measles and pertussis” says Reuters, 3-15-16. “Half of 1,416 measles cases reported in the U.S. since the disease was declared eliminated in 2000 were for people with no history of measles vaccination.”

Dr. Richard Ruhling offers the following information to balance that report. It implies that the other half had the vaccinations but doesn't tell how big the group was. Furthermore, we could presume that one out of 50 with vaccinations got autism as that is the present incidence. Studies need to be done to show what a pediatrician says: “No vaccinations; no autism!” Quaker children would also support this.

The above information shows about two cases of measles a week in the US population but only one confirmed death in more than a decade reported by Forbes, July 2, 2015. Not bad.

Meanwhile, prescription drugs kill about 2 million a year, and for each death, there are 550 people are made sick enough to see their doctor from a prescription they are taking, according to the Western Journal of Medicine, June, 2000.

That data is old; where are we now? We start with a report commonly quoted, that Adverse Drug Reactions were responsible for 106,000 deaths in hospitals (monitored conditions) from drugs “properly prescribed and administered.” (not an overdose and not bad medical practice) Journal of AMA, 4-15-1998.

Those were in hospitals. How many die at home? 199,000, according to the Western Journal of Medicine, June, 2000. That's 305,000 deaths per year making medical care the #3 cause of death 16 years ago.

But deaths from adverse drug reactions rose 2.7 fold from 1998 to 2005, reported in the Arichives of Internal Medicine, Sept 10, 2007. The article did not recognize the cause, but can we ignore Congress' approval of TV drug ads late in 1997?

If we see drug deaths of 305,000 multiplied 2.7 for 7 years and the same cause (TV ads) is still operative, we could consider it would be 7-fold in 18 years from 1998 to 2016. That's over 2 million deaths a year from prescriptions “properly prescribed and administered.” See the chart for how many went into the hospital and nursing home, middle column.

Heart disease is blamed as the leading cause of death, but two-thirds of those deaths are over age 75. Most of those deaths over 75 are in a nursing home where the average number of prescriptions is 11 (that was six years ago according to one administrator).

When a patient dies in the nursing home, an autopsy is rarely done to determine the cause of death. It is fashionable for the doctor to sign the death certificate due to heart disease unless some other condition is obvious.

Re the TV drug ads, drug companies know a good investment when they see one. “Are you suffering from ___ Ask your doctor about ___

Media prefer to report slim and dubious benefits of the pharmaceuticals because of the drug ads. This is like Congress voting for Obamacare (written mostly by the drug companies) because Congress gets donations to their re-election from the drug companies.

The chairman of a medical school pharmacology department said drug companies never do long term studies. They don't want to know all that the drug can do to you, and often the results are skewed, as suggested by “The Truth About the Drug Companies,” subtitled How They Deceive Us... by Marcia Angell, MD, Former editor of the England Journal of Medicine.

She decried Congress accepting $400,000 from drug companies more than a decade ago, and it's more than double now.

The Physician's Desk Reference, 3500 pages of fine print, is page after page of Adverse Drug Reactions, Contraindications, Drug Interactions, Carcinogenesis in some cases, Pregnancy Warnings, all for a prescription for a condition that in most cases, the doctor does not know the cause.

Internal medicine textbooks are filled with diseases of “diseases of unknown etiology” and if they don't know the cause, they don't have the cure; the Rx may afford relief of the symptom until we become toxic to the drug, but if we are taking several, who knows which drug did it?

If we were born “normal,” our health is a reflection of what we put in our mouths since birth, and the good news is, we can take responsibility for our own healthcare by modifying our diet.

Nathan Pritikin got 85% of patients taking blood pressure medication off (reported at the American College of Cardiology Convention in the mid-70's) and similar numbers for diabetics and heart disease, but mainstream media looked the other way and gave him no help.

Doctors said he hadn't really cured high blood pressure because if the person went off the low fat, low cholesterol diet, and used more salt, the blood pressure would come back. How bright is that?

We should honor the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, who said, Nature cures...let your food be your medicine, and get it mostly in the produce department.
